Power & Lighting Panel Boards

Perfect Solution Contracting provides integrated power and lighting panel board solutions for the distribution, protection, isolation, and control of electrical circuits in commercial buildings, industrial facilities, infrastructure projects, residential developments, data centers, and other facilities.

Power and lighting panel boards form an important part of the low-voltage electrical distribution network. They receive electrical power from upstream Main Distribution Boards (MDB) or other approved distribution sources and distribute it to downstream power, lighting, and equipment circuits.

Our scope can include Sub-Main Distribution Boards (SMDB), Distribution Boards (DB), power distribution panels, and lighting distribution panels according to the approved electrical design and project requirements.

Panel boards are selected according to the system voltage, rated current, number of ways, connected and demand loads, short-circuit level, incoming and outgoing protective devices, enclosure requirements, installation location, and future spare capacity specified by the project.

The incoming device can include a Molded Case Circuit Breaker (MCCB), isolator, or other approved switching and protective device depending on the panel rating and electrical distribution design.

Outgoing circuits can be protected using Molded Case Circuit Breakers (MCCB), Miniature Circuit Breakers (MCB), Residual Current Circuit Breakers (RCCB), Residual Current Breakers with Overcurrent Protection (RCBO), or other protective devices where specified by the approved design.

The type and rating of each protective device should be selected according to the connected load, conductor size, fault-current level, required protection functions, and coordination with upstream and downstream protective devices.

Busbars are selected according to the panel rated current, system configuration, temperature-rise requirements, and short-circuit withstand requirements. The busbar arrangement should be coordinated with the approved panel design and manufacturer requirements.

The short-circuit rating of the panel board and its protective devices should be suitable for the prospective fault current at the installation point. Required ratings are determined according to the approved electrical design and short-circuit calculations.

Circuit distribution should also consider appropriate load allocation and phase balancing across three-phase systems. Single-phase loads are distributed between phases according to the approved panel schedule and electrical load requirements.

Panel boards can incorporate separate neutral and earth bars sized and configured according to the approved design. Earthing and bonding arrangements should provide appropriate continuity between the enclosure, earth bar, protective conductors, and the building earthing system.

Where required by the project, Surge Protective Devices (SPD) can be incorporated into distribution panels as part of the coordinated electrical surge protection strategy. The SPD type and rating should be selected according to the approved electrical design.

Power and lighting panels can also incorporate electrical metering and monitoring devices where required, including multifunction meters, current transformers (CTs), indication devices, and other monitoring components specified for the project.

Auxiliary components can include selector switches, indication lamps, control relays, contactors, timers, terminal blocks, control wiring, and other accessories required for the intended panel function.

Lighting panels can incorporate contactors, relays, timers, or other interfaces where circuits are required to operate through a dedicated lighting control strategy. Detailed lighting automation is coordinated with the project's lighting control system where applicable.

Where specified, monitoring or status signals can be interfaced with the Building Management System (BMS) or Electrical Power Monitoring System (EPMS) according to the approved control philosophy and communication requirements.

The panel enclosure and degree of protection (IP Rating) are selected according to the installation environment. Indoor, outdoor, utility, plantroom, and other applications can require different enclosure arrangements and protection levels.

Surface-mounted, flush-mounted, floor-mounted, or other panel arrangements can be provided according to panel size, installation location, architectural requirements, and approved project design.

Incoming and outgoing cable arrangements are coordinated with the panel location and approved cable routes. Cable entries, glands, lugs, terminal arrangements, and internal connection space should be suitable for the specified cable sizes and installation method.

Each panel board should be provided with appropriate circuit identification, labels, nameplates, and an approved circuit schedule identifying the connected loads and outgoing circuit references.

Spare ways and future provisions can be incorporated where specified by the project to support future circuits or system expansion without unnecessary modification to the existing panel arrangement.

Before installation, technical documentation can include panel schedules, Single Line Diagrams (SLD), shop drawings, equipment data sheets, breaker schedules, and technical submittals for review and approval according to project procedures.

Following installation, inspection and testing can include visual and mechanical checks, verification of breaker ratings, cable connections, specified torque values, insulation resistance, continuity, earthing, phase sequence, circuit identification, control functions, and other tests required by the approved procedure.

Functional testing should verify that incoming and outgoing devices, indication circuits, contactors, relays, control functions, and other specified accessories operate according to the approved panel design before final energization and handover.

Panel boards should be selected, manufactured, installed, and tested according to approved project specifications, manufacturer requirements, and applicable standards. The applicable standard depends on the assembly type and project requirements.

Perfect Solution Contracting provides complete Power & Lighting Panel Board solutions covering engineering coordination, technical and material submittals, equipment supply, installation, cable termination, earthing, identification, inspection, testing, commissioning, and final handover according to project requirements.
