Low & Medium Voltage Cables (LV & MV)

Perfect Solution Contracting provides integrated Low Voltage (LV) and Medium Voltage (MV) cable solutions for electrical power distribution systems in commercial buildings, industrial facilities, infrastructure projects, data centers, and other critical facilities.

Our scope includes the supply, installation, termination, jointing, testing, and commissioning of power cables, wires, conductors, and associated accessories required to complete the electrical distribution system according to approved drawings, cable schedules, specifications, and project requirements.

Low-voltage cable systems can include main feeder cables, sub-feeder cables, power distribution cables, final circuits, lighting circuits, and associated conductors connecting distribution boards, electrical equipment, and building loads.

Cable selection and sizing should consider the system operating voltage, design current, current-carrying capacity, installation method, ambient temperature, cable grouping, voltage drop, short-circuit withstand capability, and applicable correction factors.

Conductors may be copper or aluminum according to the approved electrical design and project specifications. Cable insulation, outer sheath, and mechanical protection are selected according to the electrical, environmental, and installation requirements of each application.

Depending on the approved specification, power cables can incorporate XLPE insulation, PVC or other specified sheath materials, and mechanical armoring where additional protection is required. Low Smoke Zero Halogen (LSZH) cable constructions can also be provided where specified by the project.

Medium-voltage cables require appropriate selection of voltage rating, conductor size, insulation system, conductor and insulation screens, metallic screen, armoring where required, and outer sheath according to the electrical distribution system and approved technical specifications.

Cable terminations and joints are critical components of both LV and MV cable systems. Termination and jointing kits should be compatible with the cable construction, conductor size, voltage class, and the switchgear, transformer, or other equipment to which the cable is connected.

Medium-voltage cable terminations and joints require particular attention to cable preparation, insulation treatment, screen continuity, stress control, and connection procedures. Installation should follow the approved method statement and the requirements of the cable and accessory manufacturers.

Cable routes are coordinated with cable trays, cable ladders, conduits, underground ducts, trenches, and other approved raceway systems. Routing is coordinated with structural, architectural, mechanical, fire protection, low-current, and other building services.

During installation, the manufacturer's requirements for minimum bending radius, maximum pulling tension, cable support, fixing arrangements, and installation conditions should be observed to prevent damage to the cable and its insulation system.

Appropriate separation between medium-voltage, low-voltage, control, communication, and low-current circuits should be maintained according to the approved design and applicable project requirements.

Cable cleats, clamps, glands, lugs, connectors, and other accessories should be selected according to the cable type, conductor material, conductor size, short-circuit forces, equipment entry arrangement, and environmental conditions where applicable.

Cable glands and termination accessories should provide the required mechanical retention and environmental protection at equipment entries. For armored cables, gland arrangements should also be coordinated with the required earthing and bonding method.

Cable identification and tagging are provided at required locations to identify circuit numbers, source and destination, cable references, and other information specified in the approved cable schedules and project documentation.

Where cables pass through fire-rated walls or floors, the penetrations should be coordinated with approved fire-stopping systems to maintain the required fire-resistance rating of the building element.

Inspection and testing are carried out according to the cable type, voltage class, approved procedures, and project requirements. LV cable testing can include continuity, insulation resistance, phase identification, earthing verification, and inspection of terminations and connections.

For medium-voltage cable systems, the required pre-commissioning tests and test voltage or test method should be determined according to the cable system, manufacturer recommendations, approved project specifications, and applicable testing procedure.

Perfect Solution Contracting provides complete LV & MV cable works covering engineering coordination, technical and material submittals, cable routing, supply, installation, pulling, dressing, fixing, jointing, termination, identification, testing, commissioning, and final handover according to project requirements.
